Another thing that puzzles me is the large variety
of 5-HT receptor subclasses. I am used to the usual
1-molecule-1-receptor thing. I have never really studied
5-HT nor the 5-HT classes of receptors in the past. I would imagine
that each subclass must have a specific molecule, rather
than one molecule, 5-HT, fits all of them. If the
later was true, we would all be having CH while
performing a bowel movent, throwing up, vasodilation, etc
all at the same time...It would really be a mess, LOL!!!!
So, either Serotonin is produced in more than one place
or each receptor subtype has a specific and different
agonist for it.
