After 22 years of headaches starting off at age 18 I went to a doctor who started the only relief he could give me tylenol 3 and gave me a script for 20 tabs to take two at the onset and one every 4 hours following. The only thing this made me do was sleep. In the following years the headaches grew more frequent and more painful. Now at age 40 and for the last 45 days I have had at least 6 attacks and up to 8 per day. My regime consists of Imitrex 20mg nasal, maxalt, 10mg sublingle, lidocaine 50ml nasal the oppsite side of my headache, oxygen 8 lt. for 10 minuits per attack, verapamil ER 240 mg one tab per day, Topamax 200 mg one tab per day, Soma 350 4 tabs per day,(this is a muscle relaxant,)and Hydrocodone 5/325mg 4 tabs per day. I switch off the Imitrex and maxalt every 4 hours and use the other medications as perscribed. I'm writting this because I know that we all suffer from a not so common illness, CH's but each of us feel pain differently. When I was on the tablet Imitrex I did notice a longer onset for the meds to work naturally, and now with the doctors chaning my Rx I have noticed a major change in the duration of onset to relief so I only suffer for about an hour instead of 2 to 3 hours before the change.
