Day 45-6
3:45AM 7/18/01 I woke to the normal stiff neck and pounding head, runny right eye and stuffy right nostril. I staggered into the bathroom and opened the medicine cabinet to get the Imitrex and Lidocaine and go down stairs where i can listen to some classical music; for some reason this helps relax me along with the 350 mg of soma.

I know I have to be at the office at 8 am and will dread it due to the fact that I have a heavy caseload today. I go into report and meet with the other medical teams and my CH is still in full swing, the time is 8:15 am over 4 hours since the onset of my headache.

All throught the day using oxygen, Imitrex, maxalt, lidocaine and varapamil I get very little relief. The time is now 4:30 pm and my shift is over and my headache is still with me full swing

I get home and dinner was waiting but i could not eat. I went to lay down only to get up a few minuits later and I stay up with the throbbing, watering eye, stuffed nostril, staggered gait, slurred speech, and very irratibe towards my children and loving wife of over 16 years and my mother in law who was over visiting.

I'm writting this post at 1:40am on 7/19/01 just to let you know how my day went and also that i have not had a break from my headache sice 3:45 am close to 24 hours after onset. I do not have migrains, I have CH's this has been verified by 3 neurologists, and 2 internists. So yes CH's can last over 18 hours. Today was witout the most uncommon day for me and I also feel that Stress and about 2-3 hours of sleep a day for the last two weeks has not been doing me well either

Today I meet with my Pain doc to see what else can be done, I hope there is something new, If there is anybody with any thoughts please let me know, Godspeed, Joe.
