Hey Drummer. I am wondering if it possible that you mean the posterior pituitary, which is an extention of the hypothalamus. It is made up largely of the axons of hypothalamus neurons which extend downward as a large bundle behind the anterior pituitary. If you look at a picture of the hypothalamus and pituitary, you can just see the posterior pituitary peeking out from behind the anterior pituitary.
