My boyfriend (Joe) is 51 years old and has suffered from cluster headaches since he was a young child. I've been dating him for approximately 16 months. In the last five months he has had five physically violent outbursts directed at me. Afterwards he says he doesn't remember what he did or said to me. In some of the info we have read on cluster headaches it states violence is sometimes a side effect, but there is no further info/explanation. Do any of you cluster headache sufferers/family/friends have or know anyone who also has these violent episodes? If so, do you/they remember what was done and said?
I would greatly appreciate any response (hopefully prompt response) to my question. Needless to say, this violence is extremely frightening to me and I am at a loss to understand why it happens and is always directed at me. I know the pain from clusters is excruciating. I have done everything I can think of to be supportive and helpful to Joe after he told me about suffering from clusters and seeing first-hand how he suffers with these. I would greatly appreciate any info or thoughts on this. Thank you.
