Mike,
Since you've taken the quiz, I'll assume you only get the pains on one side of your head?
Also, it's not at all uncommon to experience pain in many other areas around the same side of the head. Although about 80% of my worst pain comes in the form of the feeling of a hot ice pick jabbing through my right temple into the back of my eye, I also get sharp pains of pressure like a pipe being forced into the front of my eye. Or a "crawling" sensatition of nerves that move around my head. Behind my ear, down deep inside my neck, up into my jaw, back up along side my eye to the top of my forehead. People who see me under attack say they can actually see a red blotch moving about my face and know where the pain is at the time, although the temple and eye jabbing never ceases during this, the rest is an added attraction.
I had to learn how to use the nasal spray. It didn't work for me at first either. First off, if I took it too quick, it didn't work. I found out I had to let the beast actually attack first, and wait until he was just about full power. This would usually come on within a minute. If you don't wait, it may be a false alarm, and only a level 5 or 6 attack for which I've found it doesn't help much. It works best for the heavier attacks. But, once it's to that point, and you're near your breaking point, shove that sucker up there deep, slowly breath out, plug your other nostril, and slowly breath in and shoot! Hold your nostril closed, and sniff lightly. You don't want to just snif it all down right away. The idea, is to keep it there as long as possible so it gets into your blood stream quicker. Once I got this method down, it made a world of difference ... a world of difference!
Do whatever you can to get to a neurologist as quickly as possible! Your doctor is going to drag this out too long!
Your Neuro will turn out to be your best friend.
