Many people get relief with Imitrex. The injections work the quickest on them and the nasal spray is second quickest. The pills are pretty much useless for CH since they take so long to kick in and start working.
Pure oxygen, or O2, is another highly successful abortive. If you get that you'll want to use it at 7-10 liters-per-minute using a NON-rebreather mask (and not the nose cannules).
As a prophylactic, Verapamil has brought a lot of people a lot of relief. You might want to check out the buttons on the left for more info on the meds, including taking the survey and seeing the results of the survey for what's been helping people.
Some people get some relief by taking very hot showers. Others, like me, needs to col down the body and sit in front of a fan or a/c during an attacks. Using icepacks helps too. Some people put it directly on the area of pain. I will either hold it in my hand on the affected side or place it on my head to cool down.
Show your family the medical info you'll find here and they'll see, hopefully, that it isn't just stress, nor are you overreacting.
Sometimes my ear clogs up somewhat and others it doesn't. Eye tearing is quite common.
I hope the doctor you'll be seeing next week is a neurologist, and a good one.
