Alcohol is a vaso-dialtor, in or out of CH. That's why drinkers have the red face and nose. The small vessels are dialated.
Out of CH, alcohol consumption dialtes the blood vessels. The body systems react normally to the change and serotonin is released to contstrict the blood vessels and try to maintain a norm. I think I remeber reading that the hypothalamus monitors blood pressure and increases or decreases the firing of 5HT to accomplish this.
In CH, alcohol dialtes the blood vessels, the hypo is not functioning correctly and 5HT is not released to constrict the vessels. The vessels dialte further causing the HA.
Now the big question, why only one side of the head? Anybody?
