Well, when people are depressed, sometimes doctors prescribe SSRI's or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. This drug is intended to increase the amount of serotonin available to the synapses, thereby making the patient gleeful. Therefore I would think serotonin regulates your mood. But, I could be wrong.
