I, too, may easily be wrong. Heck, I'm not even arguing very strongly for my theory, just tossing it out for discussion.
I STRONGLY agree with your statement that this is important to talk about. Every idea, no matter how crackpot it may seem on the surface, is important to explore. How long did it take society to recognize that asbestos (or cigarettes or alcohol or _______fill in the blank) was dangerous, just because some people didn't want to deal with an unpopular theory? How long was mental illness a 'keep it in the closet, hid our shame' condition? Heck, for that matter, how many unwed mothers were shuttled off to live with "Aunt Sarah" in another state while they had their 'stomach condition' dealt with?
Time to get out of the gd closet. If the 'cure' for clusters is that I have to wake up at 3 am every night and bend over and kiss my own toes, guess what? My toes are gonna get a lot of lovin'.
Just read some newspaper articles about Michael J. Fox and his decision to leave his hit TV show because of his Parkinson's disease. Go ask 10 people what Parkinson's is and then ask them what clusters are. Parkinson's probably affects less than one million Americans. Sound familiar. Parkinson's was originally thought to be a psychological (read "crazy person") disorder. Sound familiar?
Time to grow up folks. Do you truly care what the cause is? If if were proven [NOT my theory] that clusters were a mental illness, would you turn your back on treatment and live with them even though a treatment or cure were available, just because of the stigma?
If the cause of clusters is something I'm doing [again, I DON'T believe this], I'll change tonight. More importantly, if I can affect the frequency, duration or intensity of the cycles and/or attacks, help me learn how to do it better!
