Do people that experience seizures (epileptic, etc.) ever have them come at regular times the way CH is apt to present? You know, the alarm clock thing. As a continuation of my 5-HT/Melatonin post below, what if the brain or hypothalamus is seizing causing the stoppage of CNS release of 5-HT causing the smooth muscle (blood vessels) to dialate? When the seizure is over (1-2 hours) the hypo goes back into control, tells the CNS to fire 5-HT and constrict the vessels. Is this why anti-seizure meds may be effective in treating CH?

AS Q would say, the feedback loop is broken because of the seizure, well the loop isn't broken but the server (hypo) has crashed. Gotta reboot the sucker to get things (blood vessels) back to normal.

Doesn't Goadsby's research show activation or at least activity in the hypothalamus before onset of the headache? Is the activity he's seeing normal activity or an electrical storm (seizure).

Lyg
