triggers.....

I was reading through the board and I didn't see any place where this question was already answered so here it goes.....
I was wondering if the triggers (such as alcohol)
were triggers only in cycle season or do they generally bring on a cycle anytime...
Ie..Matthew is out of his cycle ...is it safe for him to have a drink with me, or will it bring on an attack out of season? Help, we are going to a party tonite and he would really like to be able to have a drink with me but we are both scared....
