When in a Cluster Warmth or Cold?

When I am in the middle of a CH, I feel very clamy but I can't stand anything cold on my face. I have to have something warm so I can relax my eye and envison the pain shooting out of the top of my head. The more I constrict my eye, the more painful it is. Is it just presonal preference or is warmth better than cold?
