A lot of us men are just too “guy” to be helped. The only time that my wife says anything to me about cluster pain is when I say something to her about it first. Otherwise, whether it’s during an attack or between attacks, she keeps her mouth shut about clusters. I’ve had cluster headaches for 43 years and there’s not much that anyone who hasn’t had even one can tell me. When I have an attack, I get away from my wife as quickly as possible, because, when she says me in agony like that, she can’t help wanting to try to help me. But she can’t help me, so I stay away from her till I’m once again able to treat her as she deserves to be treated, as some one that I love, instead of like she’s some kind of stupid pain in the ass.
