It's a triptan like Imitrex. Works on one different 5HT receptor than Imitrex. It's slow to act, probably 1/2 hour to 45 minutes. It does have a longer half life, 6 hours for narimig and 2 hours for imigran so it stays in your system much longer.
I used it during the first part of this cluster. At onset I would take 1/2 tab of naramig (because my insurance would only cover 18 tabs/month and I had to ration) and then hit the O2. O2 would knock the h/a out and the narmig would keep it away.
I also took a whole tab before I went to bed to keep the night headache from showing up. Worked fairly well.
Suprisingly, the thing that's worked best for me this time is cafergot. 2 tablets spaced over the day and almost no headaches.
So, narmaig tablets compared to imigran tablets, probably equal but last longer. naramig tablets compared to imigran injections, naturally injections are much quicker to act but naramig does last longer.
Still waiting for someone to find this Frovatriptan stuff. It was just recently approved. The company wouldn't give me any info. They said to talk to my doctor about it. It has a 26 hours half life. One tablet should stay with you all day!
