is what they opt for in the ER, morphine when they feel that too much Demorol would be too toxic to my system. I'm in the ER about once a month, the doctors and nurses do know me. Unfortunately, many times this is my only option to breaking an excruciating attack--go in typically with BP of 165/110, been as high as 190/135, walk out often at 110/70. Typical dose for me at 6'4", 230# is 150-200mg of Demorol with 50mg of Phenergan mixed in, or 10-15mg of morphine. Most I've had in one visit is 300mg of Demorol, or 18mg of morphine. I've built up a tolerance over the years (even at once a month, a level they consider WAY below addictive), plus I don't come in until I'm hitting 9+ on the pain scale. Have had zero luck with medication therapies for the clusters, have six attacks per day, and have exhausted all possibilities save for pain management.Blue skies and PFNAD,Todd Owen
