Mike,
Ask your neuro about DHE-45 IV (with a hep-lock). This sometimes works to break the cycle if used for 3-4 days q 8 hours. It's in the ergotomine family. It's an old remedy, but still used. It's worked on me for a bad seige.
I'm on Topamax for preventative and they've been wonderful to keep me remission, but I keep Cafagot (ergotomine) (and 25mg of Phenergan) handy for the breakthroughs.
Ask about the DHE-45. BUT if your neuro isn't familiar with it - be sure to tell him to give Reglan or Phenergan FIRST for naseau. It does tend to make you throw up your guts without the anti-naseau med first. Like I said - it's OLD, but it's been working on me since mine began.
Hugs BD
