O2 Flowrate - again.

Thanks for all of your replies to last night's post
- really helpfull. One thing has me really puzzled:

Recommended O2 flowrate is 7-12 l/min at 100%. A diving
friend tells me that normal breathing
rates are higher than this. If someone has a normal
breathing rate of say 20 l/min and then goes on O2
surely they need to set the reg. at 20L/min or else
they will suffucate?

Forgive the technical questions but my sister cannot
get an appointment with a neurologist for another 6
weeks! and the gas suppliers here don't seem to know
anything about this use of O2.
