Sorry 2 use ur msg board like this, but I hope that there r sum health professionals out there who r reading this. In the early hrs of yesterday morning a friend of mine called an ambulance when unable to dance anymore. When the paramedics arrived they took the approach that he was only a drunk making a fuss over a headache only changing their opinion when they checked out his cardio-vascular obs. This despite the fact that when making the emergency call he had managed to tell them what the problem was even if he was too incoherent to give them his address. Then the paramedics told him that I would not be contactable despite the fact that when he arrived at the A+E department I was literally 1 fight up stairs and a little to the left. I am a nurse and was working the night shift. At times I feel embarrased that the the people I call colleages r so ignorant to the suffering that clusterheads go through and hope that sum of them read this and realise that not everyone with slurred speech and unco-ordinated movements is drunk unless they have a head injury or other obvious cause.
