I'm really, really (drummer) gratified, indeed happy, that so many of you all are finding Imitrex effective, and I definitely agree that we should be doing all we can with Glaxo to bring them around to our side.
But you know, some of us can't use Imitrex, and I envy those of you who can. I've been to two good, solid neurologists, and both of them said, straightaway, that considering my age (58 at the time) and my long history of smoking, that Imitrex would be a stong possible risk to my heart, even though at that time I had no history of heart disease (I do now). In short, they each felt it was too hard on the heart to take the risk. I must add, lest you think these are super-conservative farts, that when I presented them with a file of "shroom information" they both said that although they couldn't discuss it at length, that it nevertheless made "perfect medical sense." I think "IT" is also hard on the heart.
I guess I'm just on a ramble here, green with envy for those of you for whom Imitrex "works", but I have to tell you that the trees don't always grow to heaven, so as Janis Joplin once sang about something else, "get it while you can!"
Looking back over this, I guess my main message is this: don't get old! As Bette Davis said, growing old ain't for sissies (and I AM ONE)! Or is you don't like that one, as the great Mae West (my one time landlady in downtown LA) said, "try to keep your body in shape; you never when it'll come in handy."
Yours ever,
Ken
