The confusion over SSI vs. SSDI seems to be very common; and applyong for SSI instead of SSDI often results in an applicants rejection.
If yo are over 18 years and are disabled for whatever reason... you need to apply for SSDI (Social Security Disability), not SSI (Social Security).
On your application you need to document your disability, diagnosis information, how and why it interferes with your ability to work in your present occupation, and how it interferes with your ability to work in any other occupation you in which you have experience or training.
Obviously, the worse you make it sound (being truthful)... the better your chances of being approved. If you are denied the first or second time, then appeal.
