Just to let you know that a little OUCH publicity works. When I got home from convention, I sent an article to the local paper (ok, so it's not the NY Times, but it's something). Today, a man showed up in my office to meet someone ELSE with CH. He's the manager of a local chain grocery store - a man I see all the time and never DREAMED suffered from CH.
Needless to say, we talked quite a while and got to know each other a lot better than we ever would in the grocery store. He's been screwed around by his doctors, so I gave him the name of a neuro who KNOWS clusters and will check back with him to see that he gets in to see him SOON.
He's also a member of the Rotary Club and is thinking of doing a program on Clusters for them. I told him I have plenty of brochures to hand out. Gave him the address of our website and told him to come on in. He was happy to know he wasn't alone anymore.
All it took was an article to the paper saying HEY THERE'S CLUSTER HEADACHES AROUND HERE! ANYONE GOT THEM BESIDES ME? Think I'll send another article to the paper in the next town and see what happens there.
Why don't some of you guys try this and see what happens. Maybe this is how to start a support group in your areas. If you have trouble writing an article to send to the paper, e-mail me and I'll help you write it. But I'm so excited about having another clusterhead two blocks from my office I just don't know what to do. I'm not happy he has clusters, I'm just happy that I'm not the only one in Gladewater TX to have them. I'M NOT ALONE! At least someone else in this town knows I'm not crazy when I have a CH.
Just thought I'd share this with you guys. It made my day a little brighter. Especially after the beast hit last night.
