The following is reprint of an article in the Arizona Republic in it's entirety. The heading is "Pain headed off". The article states as follows: "A 39-year-old man with severe, disabling cluster headaches that didn't respond to available medications became headache-free after surgeons implanted a slim wire into his brain and hooked it up to an electrical stimulator. The first-of-its-kind procedure was reported by Italian surgeons at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Neurology". Went into the neurology.org website and found no related abstract or article. This article was given to me by one of my patients that knows I'm blessed with clusters. The patient commented to me that the surgery the article speaks of sounds "very painful". If only she knew the ferocity of a cluster she'd think the surgery was equal to that of a mosquito on a rhino's back. Should anyone know of or hear of any information with regard to this surgery, please let me know via email. Thanks and you all have my sympathy, this coming from an EVERY day chronic sufferer of 10 years.
