A much larger percentage of clusterheads smoke than the general population, so there is definitely a statistical correlation between smoking and clusters, but this doesn't necessarily mean that there is a cause and effect relationship. I quit for 15 years (from 1975 to 1990) and didn't notice much if any difference. On the other hand, many clusterheads also drink, and most find that alcohol is indeed a trigger during the active phase of a cycle but not at other times.
