If you're really worried about your own anonymity, that's fine, and there are, as others have said, ways round that which you're clearly intelligent enough to use.
Your point about the IP addresses is perhaps valid (I did after all check out that you were indeed not Anthony when I saw your post - but you're based on the other side of the Atlantic from him!). However it may be worth mentioning that they are there for our protection from malicious posters who have appeared here from time to time. Further, as most of us have non-static IP addresses, it's actually very difficult to track down individuals. Some, true, like my own will show up as "btinternet.com" and there are probably only four of us who would show that, but if you're coming in from aol there's little hope of being tracked, as we know when people have sent unpleasant mail.
Frankly it would be easier to work out who is posting from their standard of English, use of punctuation or favourite expressions.
Remember a lot of these things have been gone through before - many times in some cases - 90,000 messages suggest we've got it about right.
BTW, there is no moderator here, and hopefully never will be - one of the strengths of the place.
