I've been reading a lot of posts here saying - tell your doc to give you percodan - valium and a few others. Docs are mostly afraid to give these drugs because THEY ARE ADDICTIVE!
My opinion of this is - WHO cares? What's worse - being addicted or HURTING like hell?
But in Defense of the docs. The Govt and Ins. co. are on them big time about Rx for addictive drugs. It's not right nor fair to those of us who suffer, but it's a fact. Valium works for a lot of people, but my doc is terrified of writing a scrip for it. Years ago (for vertigo) I was given 2mg of Valium and a large dose of Myvert three times a day for 6 months. I don't tolerate Valium well, so we went from 10mg to 2mg real fast and I usually broke them in half. But my point is = after 6 months of daily use - I stopped and NO SIDE effects - NO addiction. No problem.
I know some people have "addictive" personalities - whatever that is - and tend to "get hooked" on certain drugs, but NOT EVERYONE! Yet we all suffer for a few.
Don't know any solution, but just thought I'd bring up the problem.
