I was so happy to find all of you out here. After 7 years of these episodes and being told everything from they were migraines to that I needed to see a psychiatrist I finally found a doctor that wasn't trained in the stone ages and realized that women get cluster headaches too. Up until about three months ago I didn't even know. I have what seems to be very short episodes (lasting 3-10 days) but I get them twice a month. I have tried Imitrex, Amerge and Zomig with varying degrees of relief and sometimes nothing seems to work. I am sorry to be so long winded but it is such a relief to find people out there who know what it is like to beat your hand on your head because it feels better than not doing it and to know that I'm not psychotic.
