I don't mean to belittle the family doctor. If you're sick or running a fever or something like that, they're great. But they aren't going to be any help treating cluster headaches. You absolutly need to see a neurologist for treatment.
As for being made fun of and labeled as a hypocondriac etc. Get used to it. I'm sorry to say that it comes with the territory. Getting people to understand is nearly impossible, especially in the workplace. This is going to sound cruel but it's the bottom line. You, me, and everybody else were hired to do a job, and if we can't do it we will be replaced. I went through several jobs until I found a boss that accepted my condition. I am one of the lucky ones.
