just mean it vascillates between about .5 and 2 on the pain scale ... so hat it's not really a constant background pain level but one that goes from almost unnoticable up to annoying. it's just not pain-free, but relative to a CH it's a cakewalk.
as soon as the pain level gets to agony (like above 3) i consider it a CH.
i guess it's like a seismograph - monitoring the movement of the earth. it's never flat ... always jiggling somewhat recording normal background movement (shadow). when the quake goes off, the pens are moving wildly back and forth and that's a CH.
