I was digging through the linen closet in our bathroom this weekend looking for some more shaving cream and came upon my stash of Maxalt.
Since my insurance will only pay for one 18-tablet refill a week, as soon as my remission started, I began hording my Maxalt supply. Every few weeks, I'd get another refill paid for by insurance.
Well, my doc had given me a script with about 30 refills on it and I had just used a handful of the refills so I looked to see how many I had left. I then noticed that the script was written in September 1999.
That's a one-year remission! Typically, my remissions are 4-6 months with a healthy 2-month bout of CH.
The only thing I've done differently in the last year was to eat a lower-cholesterol diet to get my life insurance rates into a favorable status. I now have preferred status there (a 70% reduction in premiums) and I have this awesome remission. I have no idea if one is related to the other but they both occurred concurrently.
Maybe it'll help others; maybe not. Either way, I'm praying for all of us...and keeping the Maxalt handy. :^)
