I once took codeine (prescribed for a bad cough that had kept me awake for two nights). The 3rd night I didn't cough, but felt myself hovering about a handspan above my mattress and intensely living every second of that snail-slow night. So, no codeine ever again for me.
When I get medication nowadays, I automatically halve the dose the doctor proposes. It makes him laugh, but he agrees that if I feel fine I should go ahead.(Caught myself with that once, taking too little Verapamil).
Why do I do this? I am told that in the past pharmaceutical substances were often tested on prison inmates who volunteered to get privileges.
But that's mostly a male population. The distribution of fatty tissue in females makes for a different bio-availability of many drugs. Not every doctor accounts for that difference in the dosage s/he prescribes.
So, August, only a doctor will be able to tell if the dosage was too high for your body volume, or if you are just hypersensitive to this medication.
I hope you made the ER all right, I hope everything turns out all right for you. Do tell us when you come back, won't you?
