Dear Jack,

I agree about the difference between CH and migraine.
Having had migraine for most of my life prior to
acquiring clusters at about 27, it's very obvious
to me that they did come either in response to stress
or just after it ended.

With the clusters they are definitely not related
to stress; they come just as frequently during the
school holidays (I teach) as during term. Most of
the stress we all suffer is surely due to the clusters
anyway!

Also, if you think about it, by their very nature,
they attack at night, when one is asleep, and therefore
at one's most relaxed, as well as during the day.
It seems fairly obvious therefore that stress has
little relation to when attacks occur.

Finally, how many of us, I wonder, had migraine until
we started clustering, but not since? I know one or
two people have mentioned that they have both, but
I think that's rare. Do we chronics tend to lose the
migraine element more than those with episodic CH?
Or do they lose it only during a CH bout?

Simon
