I went to Stanford neuro clinic a few weeks back to see if they could help me beat the CH--this episode has been going on since the start of October, next week makes ten months. They put me on Verapamil, which has not really taken a good hold yet, and set up another appointment with the promise they would think about my case in the meantime. At first I kind of felt as if I was just being blown off again, until last night.
I received a phone call at home from one of the two doctors who had examined me at Stanford. Said he wanted to check up and see if the Verapamil was working or not. He was also going to discuss my case with all the other neuro's at Stanford today and had a few questions so that he could make sure he knew things well enough to discuss the case and try to come up with diagnoses and solutions for me. Finally, he said he had some mental training that they had used with other migraine patients that might help me, thought I might want to look into it. I was told that he (yes, the doctor) would be willing to come over one or two weekends to teach me the exercises. That blew my mind. Never have I had a doctor offer to come over on HIS time off to help me, and it's almost as rare to have a doctor call me up at home to check up on me and see how I'm doing.
Holding out hope,
Todd
