Denial is the hardest part to conquer in the road to recovery (take it from a recovering alky, me). It's good that the doc says no more narcs. Everyone here will agree that narcs are pretty useless in fighting CH. The triptans, ergots and preventatives are the way to go. I would suspect that anyone relying on narcs to treat CH is takeing for mare than stopping the pain. I think they enjoy the high that comes with it.
When I start a cluster the doc usually offers me some pain killers along with the other meds. It's tempting but I'm afraid that would put me back on that road to nowhere.
