1% means one in 100, so 0.04% is .04 in 100 equals 4 in 10,000. So you would get 174,000 * 4 / 10,000 = 70 clusterheads in the Marines.
However, the number 0.04% is rather old and low. Dr. Goadsby speaks of an incident of 0.1% in general population.
Assuming a 4 to 1 male to female ratio there are then .08% male CH sufferers in the total population or 0.16% of all male are clusterheads. Using this figure one could expect about 278 clusterheads in the Marines.
BTW, my neurologist told me he had 5000 patients up to now, and half a dozen of these suffer fro CH.
The 'orange peel' comes from a 70 year old report on a tiny sample of clusterheads. It also says that we all have a rugged chin, are all heavy smokers and drinkers and exclusively male. Sadly, this old crap is still disseminated.
