Prednisone from what I have read is only a short term treatment. You can't stay on it too long. When you are on this drug, as well as other steroids your adrenal glands shut down since your steriod level is high. Adrenal glands also put out steriods.You need to taper off and let your adrenal glands start to work again. The key is to let the adrenals get back in shape and not to permenatly shut down. What I have had a hard time finding out is how often you can take prednisone or methyelprednisonem,or mor importantly how much time between dosages. Would some one that knows what they are talking about please respond.
