We know both alcohol and nitro dialate the blood vessels. Alch will give you the red nose from enlarged vessels and nitor is given to angina patients to open up the heart vessels. Perhaps during a cluster, something is missing that would normally keep the head vessels in check. We can drink alch when not in a cluster and not get a HA. I would bet we can take nitro too. I believe during a cluster either the hypo is not recieving the signals from the blood vessels saying "hey I'm getting pretty fat here, better do something" or the vessels aren't sending the message. Because of the circadian rythem, my bet is the hypo.
