Given intravenously, histamine causes lower blood pressure, flushing of the skin, smooth muscle contraction, increased vascular permeability, gastric secretion and headache. Chemically speaking it is an amine formed by decarboxylation of histidine; found wherever tissues are damaged.
Causes LOCAL DILATION OF BLOOD VESSELS.
