Here in the US we have something called 'bologna'. Pronounced 'baloney'. It is roughly as equivilent to mortadella as that ground up cardboard in the green cardboard cannister called 'Parmesan cheese like substance devoid of flavor' is to true Parmigiana cheese.
The imported mortadella we have here is very expensive, though not nearly as bad as imported prosciutto. It is also about 6 inches in diameter. Don't know if your 13 was due to metric-US translation difficulty, since I have NO idea what 6 inches equals in centimeters. Suffice to say I'm 5'10" and 6" is about 1/2 the length of the shoe I wear.
