Nice theory, but you left out perhaps the most important part: precisely defining the difference between chronic and episodic.
(1) Are the primary differences direct, as in --
1. frequency of cycles
2. frequency of attack within cycle
3. duration of cycle
4. duration of attack
5. intensity of individual attacks
6. intensity of overall cycle
7. overall length of CH experience (lifetime) for an individual
OR (2)-- (perhaps also) in the indirect effect of the CH-process, as in --
A. cummulative effect of "active" periods, depression, etc.
B. cummulative effect of "inactive" periods. (e.g. the shattering of false hopes built-up during episodic repreives, denial, etc.)
OR (3) (perhaps also) in the responsiveness to treatment? (as someone suggested a week or so ago?)
I believe that it would be helpful in understanding the CH-process to split these hairs for discussion, but not for splitting the CH-support community.
