Shadows for me are that feeling in between attacks that you are going to have another. It's that uncomfortable feeling in my kneck, that slight pulsing in my head, pressure feeling in my sinus. I unfortunately have them pretty much all the time during a cycle. It's rare that these things aren't effecting me in some way. However, I'd take the shadows over the actual attack any day.
