if I read you correctly, you suggest a permanent damage to the sheathing in the attack area, susceptible to generating the painful attack when other requisite conditions convene
(which may vary in individuals OR which remain open within the hypothetical model)
My first concern for clarification would be:
can we fit the phenomenon of clusters switching sides into this model?
that is certainly not universal, but is quite common
various catalogs of the disease suggest the entire cluster may change sides, but attacks within a given cluster do not;
that has been my experience -
when I started I had a few clusters on the right
then a few on the left
for the last 20 years, all on the right;
NEVER mixed sides in a single cluster period
