I went to my doc the other week with what I was sure was a tension headache(had it for 1-1/2 weeks). The first thing he did was give me a shot of Imitrex right there in the office. When that didn't help the headache he ruled out vascular headaches (cluster, migraine, etc). Prescribed fiorinal which immediate killed the headache. Perhaps your doc would be willing to do the same to determine if the headache is vascular or muscular in origin.
