I work in a downtown office building with an attached multi-level parking garage. When a Cluster attack “hits”, I run out to the parking garage with my Imitrex injection, tissue and a cassette tape. I sit in my car, close my eyes, listen to the tape to judge the time, bang my head on the steering wheel and shove the tissue up my left nostril so I don’t get snot on my suit. We all know what the Imitrex injection is for.
One day the Vice President of the Company pulled in next to me as I was banging my head and listening to my tape with the tissue in my nostril and the syringe on my dash board. This was the same Vice President that had recently promoted me to Supervisor. She tapped on my window. I immediately turned the music down. I opened my eyes, but I forgot to hide the syringe and remove the tissue from my nostril. I also forgot to be polite. I said, “WHAT” really, really loud and quite rudely.
The Vice President asked if I was OK. I whispered that I had a headache and that I would be back to work in a minute. She said, “uh, ok”. The Vice President hasn’t looked at me the same ever since. That was two years ago.
