I have clusters and migraines. With migraines, I can take 1/2 an Imitrex tab and the headache will go away in about 15 minutes. Also, the length of the ha is a point to look at. Without the Imitrex, my migraine can last 24 hours to 72 hours. A cluster, however, lasts no longer than 4 hours for me.
What other symptoms do you get with your headaches? Nauseous? Hate light and noise? Do you bang your head? Can you sleep? Do you pace or rock? Are you active or do you want a nice dark place? How you answer these questions will help to narrow down your type of ha. By no means am I saying your doctor is wrong. WE, on the board, however, do know that the med. profession can, and has, misdiagnosed people. All we want to do is help you. If you don't have clusters, much of the info you find here may very well be useless----and possibly detrimental.
