I take 300mg lithium 3 times a day. I have done that for about 3 or more years, which is a long time, I know. I was diagnosed with chronic CH, and the lithium has in essence helped change the chronic to episodic. When out of my cycle, I have tried to quit the lithium, but another cycle starts immediately, within a day or two, so I go back on. I AM wondering if its losing its effectiveness, as the cycle tha started in July has not completely passed yet.The side effects that I get do not seem as bad as some. I get some tremors in my hands, and only occasional stomach problems, usually if I don't eat something when I take it. Having been on it for so long, my thyroid has suffered, so I have to take meds for that. Its important that you and your doc keep good track of your blood levels, of both thyroid and lithium. With the lithium, there is a "theraputic range", wherein it can be effective yet not toxic. My blood level is consistently at the very low end of that range, and sometimes even a bit below. Good luck!! That's my experience only, may be different for others, if anyone may think that I'm saying "that's the way it is", the secretary will disavow any knowledge of my existence. This post will self-destruct in 5 seconds.
