Hi Joy.....I;ve had CH for 24 years now, and Elavil eventually works for me...however, before writing it off as not working,the dosage of this drug seems very important. I build up from 50mg to 75 mgs to 100mgs, the difference between 75 & 100 is enormous. I've been as high as 125, but found that I could quickly knock it back to 100. I've taken most meds, and this is the only one that has worked for me, with Imitrex shots for the breakthrough headaches. About one every 5 days when I am up to 100mgs and holding. Everyone is different, and what works for one does not necessarily work for another. I still stand by my claim, that the less mix of medications we take, the better of we are, because rebound headaches can be filthy. Good luck ..judi
