As I've often stated when offering this type of food for thought, the statistical validity of our survey is extremely shaky. Not only is it likely to be overly weighted to North Americans, as you say, we have no input controls to prevent anyone with net access from idly punching buttons.
Additionally, the SAMHSA data I related is specific not just to NA, but to the USA.
My intent was not to claim any type of 'fact' or conclusion, but rather to stimulate thought and perhaps conversation among those here who like to 'mentally tug' at the limited data we have available.
From our conversations, I'm aware that you understand the limits and requirements of true statistical analysis. Thanks for posting your caution. I'd hate for anyone to mis-interpret my comments.
