Hey there Jose, of course check with your neuro person but I'll tell you what I know re: Imitrex. It is a vein constrictor. During a cluster attack a/some veins in your scalp (temple area) swell and stretch the nerves in the area. The nerves do not like this and pain is the result. This accounts for the sudden onset and end to cluster attacks, the swelling and constricting of the veins. Normally, the Imitrex drug can be used only twice a day at the perscribed dose. The pill application is the slowest acting (approx: one hour) and mg. doseage is up to the doctor probably depending upon body weight. Because it is the slowest acting it is frequently not adequate for relief. It is the cheapest at approx. $10 - $12 per pill. The nasal spray is faster (approx. 15 min) and is about as expensive as the injection which is the fastest (approx. 5 min) and $48 per dose. Your trip to India could be a challenge and I respectfully suggest a consultation with a headache specialist prior to departure, especially as you indicate a trip 6 months long. I may be wrong but I wouldn't plan on much help for the Cluster disorder in India, especially in the out country. Side effects may be tightening feeling in the chest. This is not necessarily a good drug for people with heart disease. There may be other side effects I can't recall. Best wishes for a safe and enjoyable trip. See that doctor. :-) Greg
