I have suffered from cluster headaches since I was 16. I am now 44 and have over that time got to a point where I would get cycles on average every two years. Each cycle would go on average about 3-4 months.
In 1992 I had surgery for a deviated septum. I never got an attack in 1994 or 1995 and thought maybe the surgery had a nice side effect and destroyed some cluster nerves. Unfortunately I got hit in 1996. The next set started 1999 (current).
In a way,it appears more time (3-4 years between attacks instead of every 2 years) might mean they're dying out(??). Also, this current cycle which began around July 4th doesn't seem as intense.....the attacks don't seem to last as long. I use to take Sansert and wondered if that actually prolonged the cycle? This round I'm on Imitrex injections/oxygen/lidocaine and did the prednisone count down too. I'm not sure if any of this means anything or is just coincidence....I am an old man (44 years old---hehehehe) but have heard ch discipates over time. Maybe since I've gotten since age 16,the good Lord figures I've had my share.
I can only hope!
